I thought I would have to teach my daughter about the world; turns out I have to teach the world about her. They see a girl who doesn't speak,
I see a miracle who doesn't need words.

Prince George Copsicles

About a month ago my brother-in-laws sister, Kari, who works for the Prince George Police Department, and some of her co-workers did the Polar Plunge to benefit the Special Olympics of Virginia.  Alex has participated in two of the Special Olympics' "Little Feet Meets" for the past two years and it's an unbelievable experience.

Kari and her team dedicated their plunge to Alex.  I can't tell you how much that touched us.  Yesterday I received a package in the mail from Kari with a team t-shirt (Freezin for a Reason!) which was signed by every member of the team and says YOU ARE AWESOME! on the bottom, a team photo, a video of their plunge and dedication to Alex and a letter.  A section of the letter read (hope you don't mind I'm sharing Kari):

..."This year our plunge was dedicated to you Alex.  You and your family are truly AMAZING!!  Keep teaching the world that nothing can stop you or anyone.  Your disability is a gift and anyone who knows you understands that.  Your smile can illuminate any room and make any day better.  I know that you have inspired each of us to work harder and strive for more knowledge."  That was it - I lost it....I started crying and had to put the letter down.

I am constantly amazed at how Alex and her life touch other people and the love and blessings that we receive because of her simply blows me away.

SO A HUGE THANK YOU to the Price George Copsicles for not only being part of an amazing day that raised a million dollars for the Special Olympics, but for including Alex in your day and making us feel really special.
